Week 10

Our patent is on an ORAM technology that is the first of its kind to conceal access patterns to data on the cloud.  Often, individuals and companies' clouds can be attacked when hackers recognize that a certain data is accessed more often than others - this is an indication of important and frequently used data.  To protect those who use cloud services, this ORAM technology eliminates the encryption of a file and thus conceals the access patterns of it.  This technology will not slow down the system performance or take up extensive amounts of memory.  Most attractively, it is compatible with all the major cloud security providers.

The technology is a method that shuffles data between the data blocks that stores all the information on the cloud, as provided by the first claim.  The shuffling of the data between the N number of blocks prevents the data to be encrypted and eliminates any sort of access pattern. The data is shuffled between P partitions within the data block whenever it is accessed.  Moreover, this eliminates the time stamp of access, so attackers would not know which information was especially important at certain points in time.  The general idea is that it aims to reduce the risk of hackers getting into sensitive data.

This technology has potentially a large market because of the rising demand in cloud security as more individuals and firms are moving data onto the cloud.  Moreover, this is the first of its kind, so its uniqueness will attract potential users, as opposed to the traditional methods that has proven to not be as successful.

On Venture Dojo:

I like the format that it can be treated as both an audiobook and a video if visual aid is needed.  The only critique I have is that the audio varies from chapter to chapter.

  1. Hi Janette,

Thanks. We know what ORAM is all about. The point of these anonymous
personal blogs is for you to help reflect on the "journey". Let us know where you are personally and what issues you may have since this one-on-one format with Prof Lavian and I as your audience is intended to be a platform. Team OK? How's the course in terms of preparation, learning, fulfilling your mission. What can be done better. It's good to observe and critique.

    Venture Dojo comments appreciated.

Looking forward to see your first pitch on Thurs.

    1. Hi Rick,

I apologize for not including the information about personal and team progress and I will be sure to include it in this week's blog, but I thought the slides of the course logistics specified for us to break down our patent and explain it on our personal blogs.

We are excited to pitch as well!
